On Our Best Behavior
A Long-Awaited Catch-Up
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
I hit record after a way-too-long break and immediately realize two things: I miss doing this, and you all never stopped listening. Then I bring in a surprise guest you might not expect, Mac Dog, and we end up doing what we do best: a chaotic, cozy catch-up that somehow turns into real advice.
We talk teen life updates that actually matter, like learning to drive without doing the “hug the middle line” thing, deciding whether a yellow light is worth the risk, and why a crash on the way to work feels extra brutal. From there we get into first-car dreams and what working at AutoZone teaches you about car maintenance basics: batteries, windshield wipers, check engine light codes, sensors, and the myth that a code reader will magically fix your problems. If you’re into used cars, DIY repairs, or just want to feel less intimidated by the check engine light, you’ll leave with a clearer picture.
We also go full side quest: budgeting for a cat (Humane Society fees versus free Facebook Marketplace kittens), what it means to pick a pet for personality, and how people actually handle emotions, from gaming rage to singing it out. Plus we talk Love On The Spectrum, why sincerity can be so refreshing on screen, and we even detour into biology with mountain lions, inbreeding, and gene flow.

Welcome Back And Gratitude
SPEAKER_00Welcome back to another episode of On Our Best Behavior. Wow, friends, it's been a minute. I thought I had s recorded last month, and then I looked and it said January. January. So that was shocking to me. And um I forgot what I was just gonna say. I already lost my thought process, but I was looking back and I was looking to see what I had talked about on the last episode, and it was about being kind. And uh, you know, here we are. So I'm trying to be kind. We'll see. I I can tell you that I know you have been kind because I have a little bit of imposter syndrome because every Monday, Monday is the day that I get an email with all my stats of how many people are listening to the podcast, what episodes are they listening to, feedback, you know. I I get all these analytics. And I was blown away on Monday when I saw how many people are listening to this podcast and I hadn't put out an episode since January. So my heart is so full of grratitude when you recognize me on the street and you say hi. You don't even I just it it's I it's an out-of-body experience. So thank you so much for supporting the show and for sticking with me through so many pivots. But today, I have a surprise for you worth the wait. I have such a great guest today. I don't even know what we're gonna talk about, but I hope that you are excited as I am. So without further ado, let me introduce my special guest.
SPEAKER_01I'm probably someone you would not expect to hear today, but it's been a long time.
SPEAKER_00Who are you? Who this? Mag Dog! Mac Dog and Dog and the Hell!
SPEAKER_01Yup, I'm back.
SPEAKER_00You're back.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's been so long.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so okay. Life update. What's going on?
SPEAKER_01Um, it's been a long time. So to be honest, I'm not gonna lie, I thought this would be funny to say. I don't know if anyone knows this person, but I know Rose is gonna watch this. I don't know if any of you remember who Rose is, but I play Xbox with them. They're still friends. Yeah. After many years. Yeah, for like so long. It's like what? Like seven years? Yeah, so long. Holy crap. But oh I just lost trace.
SPEAKER_00It must be genetic. You said you want to see something and you thought it would be really funny.
SPEAKER_01Oh, what the hell was I gonna say? I last thought I was going too far.
SPEAKER_00Well, anyway. So we were talking about life updates. Yeah. Was that part of what you were gonna say?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so I've been gone for a while. I've honestly like I went to Jackson's, I haven't seen him in like what like six months, probably a year actually.
SPEAKER_00Well, your relationship is very one-sided, and when you have to do all the work, it makes it a little bit more tough to have a good friendship with somebody. And when you live far away as well.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he is forty-five minutes away after all, so it's one way, and then you gotta come back home. Yeah, so it's actually an hour and twenty. No. No, that's an hour and thirty, right? An hour and a half, yep. Yeah.
SPEAKER_0045 plus 45. Oh, yeah, you're right. I know. Yeah. 90. 90 minutes equals one and a half hours. Yeah. Brig big brain. Do you see the light bulb over here just radiating off of me? So smart. So smart.
SPEAKER_01That's crazy.
SPEAKER_00Idea. Bling bling bling.
SPEAKER_01You're funny.
Cat Plans And Real Costs
SPEAKER_00I mean, I feel like you've grown a lot as a person since you were on the show last because you're driving, you got a car, you got a job. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You, it's about to be, it's getting well, it doesn't feel like it's about I I was thinking about getting a cat too, I'm not gonna lie. Oh, yeah, you've been talking about getting a cat. And you just thought you were like, We should look at for free cats on Facebook or something like that. What were you saying?
SPEAKER_00So you you were doing, you know, you have such a good heart, and I love you so much. You were looking at the Humane Society for cats.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but they're like 220, I think. I don't even Yeah, they're pretty much it.
SPEAKER_00But I said what you should do is just find a free cat on Facebook Marketplace or a kitten, because they're always just getting trying to get rid of them. Because cats have babies all the time. Then you then the money you pay is to get them. But how much do you think it'd be to get neutered? Like well, I think if you qualify for Snap, it it's under a hundred dollars. Oh, perfect. And I think you will qualify because you make less than I think it's like fifty-five thousand dollars a year or something like that. Yeah, so I'll be good. Yeah, so you'll be good. And then they do like a little and I could be wrong, it's been a minute since I had to fix anybody, but they do like a mobile clinic, and so when it comes to your area, you just make an appointment. You drop off your cat. Oh, and then I go and come back in like two hours, and then you go pick up Gucci Sack. Gucci sack. Do you want a boy or a girl?
SPEAKER_01It doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_00Oh. So you just pick which one like you like the personality and yeah, it's just a personality.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00When everyone calls to you. Yeah, basically.
SPEAKER_01I want one that wants to like cuddle and like a pet too. Yeah. And be like a little playful as well. I want it to be playful, to be honest. Yeah. You're gonna play with your cat? Yeah, if it wants to, yeah. Like I I like I like pet enticing and when he's like all on me, he's like, I don't know. He's fun to snuggle with too.
SPEAKER_00A cat won't make biscuits on you like this. Do you like that?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's fine. And then I want the part of the whatever it is.
School Mornings And Driving Habits
SPEAKER_00What does it sound like when a cat breaks? Oh. A little Spanish, and you're just coming out. So you take Spanish as one of your classes. Yeah. So when you were speaking in español, are you like rolling your R's like they do?
SPEAKER_01No, I have a first hour, so I'm not, I'm like so tired. Oh, baby.
SPEAKER_00That's not a good excuse.
SPEAKER_01But that's fine. It's like first hour, are we serious?
SPEAKER_00So, what would be the best class to have first hour?
SPEAKER_01Honestly, the best classes tap for first hours probably wakes you up. Jim is one of them, yeah, because it does wake you up. That is that's one. Another one is probably hmm. Probably art, honestly. Art's a good class to wake up to.
SPEAKER_00Get your creative juices flowing.
SPEAKER_01It gets you going, yeah. I'm not gonna lie, yeah. That's a good one.
SPEAKER_00You um have you been on the Kylie Kelsey podcast a lot? Because you've been saying not gonna lie, and that's the name of her show. No, not gonna lie, not gonna lie. Honestly, though. Okay, not gonna lie.
SPEAKER_01You're pushing it right now.
SPEAKER_00I'm just bringing it to your attention. Yeah, you were just gonna say, not gonna lie, you're pushing it. Alright, so onward, onward and upward.
SPEAKER_01You cut me off. Oh.
SPEAKER_00I mean, that's kind of like how you drive. How do you like it? Oh, okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I don't really cut anyone off, though.
SPEAKER_00Well, you used to.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I did.
SPEAKER_00Now you just don't pay it, you just drive. This is you.
SPEAKER_01Not even what?
SPEAKER_00Just looking everywhere but the road.
SPEAKER_01No, I do look at the road. Oh, okay. I just gotta like look around my surroundings around it.
SPEAKER_00Just hug the middle line.
SPEAKER_01I don't do that anymore. Oh, you've been learning. Okay.
SPEAKER_00That's good. I'm glad that your driving is improving.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's getting better. Yeah. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00And you really made me happy this week when we were talking about driving, and you were talking about like when the light's yellow, do you go or do you stop? And we were talking about what's worth it. Like, what's worth getting in a car accident for, what's worth getting a ticket for? It doesn't save you that much time. It's better to just like be patient and wait.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but if I'm like really close and there's like no, I won't be able to stop, then I go through.
SPEAKER_00On my way home together.
SPEAKER_01And then we're gonna calculate in the time.
SPEAKER_00Somebody just slammed on their brakes. Actually, holy shit. And I just slam on my brakes so hard and my car, like it does that beep, beep, beep, and like everything red flashes, and I'm like, oh fuck, I'm gonna hit this guy. And then then I knew I wasn't gonna hit him, but oh, I was so the guy behind me was like uh so close, and I was like, please don't hit me. You're like, fuck. And the worst thing is like getting in an accident when you're either on your way or to or from work. Yeah, that's like you go to work to make money, it shouldn't cost you money to go there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. That would that would fucking suck. I'm not gonna lie. And your work's not even far in that happened.
SPEAKER_00No, this is when I was I was at Shoreview today.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's farther, yeah.
First Car Dreams And AutoZone Skills
SPEAKER_00So the one day I have a drive. Now that's what happens. Almost just got a little love tap in the in the bumper.
SPEAKER_01And the bumper. Boom.
SPEAKER_00So speak so speaking of you've been driving, now you have a strong interest in cars.
SPEAKER_01I actually, yeah, I do. I'm trying to save up for a car right now.
SPEAKER_00Do you know what you like what are you trying to save up for specifically?
SPEAKER_01Either a BMW or like a Mustang or something like that. I'm not for sure.
SPEAKER_00Like older and newer. Like H A?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. His car's pretty cool too.
SPEAKER_00His car is cool, but that's kind of nerdy if you get the same car as him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it would be. I'd get something a little bit different.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Alright, so that's it. Do you know like do you know like how much money you need to buy a car like that?
SPEAKER_01Honestly, like probably like 5,000 to like 12,000. It really varies.
SPEAKER_00I'm not it so you're looking at like used older.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, older ones. I like the older models better.
SPEAKER_00Do you think you can work on those cars?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think I can.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think I'll be able to maintain it.
SPEAKER_00But I'm saying, like, if something breaks, do you think that you would know how to figure out how to fix it or work on it?
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, definitely. I I honestly have faith in myself to do it. Um Yeah, I that's all I gotta say. I have a lot of faith.
SPEAKER_00Do you a lot of YouTube videos on the show? Yeah, I was gonna say, how would how would you figure it out?
SPEAKER_01A lot of YouTube videos on a trail for sure. But working at Autozone has definitely helped.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You learned a lot about cars working there?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I have learned a pretty solid amount, I would say.
SPEAKER_00What do you feel like that job teaches you the most in like learning about cars?
SPEAKER_01The most? Um, it teaches you a lot of like really like the simple really simple basics and like a little of the advanced like basics, and it just really helps overall.
SPEAKER_00Like you just like overall So what do you feel like when you started there you didn't you didn't know anything about brakes, you didn't know anything about oil, you didn't know like everything, and now you feel like you know what you'd get and stuff, and like that helped with that.
SPEAKER_01So like you could it helps you get no better for the part two.
SPEAKER_00Do you need to take a drink? Your mouth sounds dry.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, honestly.
SPEAKER_00You've learned how to install windshield wipers, batteries, the diagnostic machine.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the tester for the check. Yeah. But that's really easy. All you do is plug it in under the thing.
SPEAKER_00Don't tell don't give people away your secrets. Don't give your secrets away.
SPEAKER_01It's a good thing to know. It's kind of weird when you go out there and plug it on.
SPEAKER_00I think don't you feel like when people come in and want to use it, like they think it's like this amazing device that's gonna answer all their problems?
SPEAKER_01They think it pops up on the thing, but it doesn't, and I'm like, oh we gotta look oh like they're surprised, I guess.
SPEAKER_00Because it just gives you a code and then you have to go look up the code.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, usually it's like sensors most of the time. A lot of times it's an oxygen sensor too. I don't know why it's been that lately.
SPEAKER_00What does that mean when it's that?
SPEAKER_01Uh with the airflow with your vents, I'm pretty sure.
SPEAKER_00So it just means you need like a new air filter?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, something like that, or um that has something to do with your AC or something like that. It needs to be refreshed.
SPEAKER_00Oh, like free on or something.
SPEAKER_01We are selling things that are like to clear your AC. A lot of people are gonna start buying them when it comes to summer.
SPEAKER_00It like blows their AC out?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it makes it like cleans it all out, yeah.
SPEAKER_00See, I didn't even know that was a thing.
SPEAKER_01Oh, really? Yeah. Yeah. And then I know like that you need you did you know you had to you should use grease for your light bulbs when you change your headlights?
SPEAKER_00No, I don't change my headlights, so I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you just go to shop, don't you? We did your oil change and stuff.
SPEAKER_00I just bring it to the dealership and they do what needs to be.
SPEAKER_01But your car is really new, so it's probably harder.
SPEAKER_00Harder to what?
SPEAKER_01Uh to change it, because some cars you have to like take some parts off. Like not long ago, at work, these two girls came and they wanted their headlights changed. No, not really. Okay. They were like in their 20s or something. That's okay. Yeah, that's fine. Sugar mama. Funny. And they had a Kia, it was like uh it looked like a toaster.
SPEAKER_00Was it a scion?
SPEAKER_01No, it was uh actually I think it might have been. I don't know. Something with an S. It could have been.
SPEAKER_00For sure was a scion.
SPEAKER_01But like their car had like a dent in like the right side of it if you're like facing, if you're sitting in the car looking, it was on the right side. So the driver's seat or the passengers? Oh, driver's.
SPEAKER_00That's how you that's how you identify what spot in a car.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you're right. I don't know. I'm thinking like I'm just trying to help you. Um, so yeah, the driver's side, it was like hidden, the bump was like broke off, and like the radiator was like pushed in and stuff.
SPEAKER_00But it's still they're still cruising.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's still going. It's crazy.
SPEAKER_00Bro, I'm telling you, in life, especially when you're 20 and your car breaks, like you just sometimes you just drive it. Yeah, that's just because you can't afford it.
SPEAKER_01That's it.
SPEAKER_00It's expensive. We've we talk about you always say how you try to hook up hook a guy up when he it's expensive, and you try to like, all right, well, you can help you could go this direction if you want to save money.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's always about saving money. But they they came in and I had to change the light bulbs, and I figured out you had to take the whole like bumper off.
SPEAKER_00Well, good thing it was already half off.
SPEAKER_01But like Did that help?
SPEAKER_00We didn't have the tools because Well, you you didn't have to put it back on, it was already hanging off.
SPEAKER_01Well, the whole other side was really connected. It was like you had to get under it and everything.
SPEAKER_00Did you do that?
SPEAKER_01No, we did not do it.
SPEAKER_00So you just said that's beyond our scope of practice?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we were like, we can't do this. And it was also late at night, so it's just two of us, so there's that too. We can't really we're not really supposed to go outside at night. That's yeah, you need to be safe.
SPEAKER_00Once it's dark, you gotta stay inside.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and that's why.
SPEAKER_00Uh you got you know I I love when you come home from work and then like I'm like, how was your night? Like, what happened? Oh and it warms my heart when you'll tell me like little old ladies will come in and like be like, Thank you for helping me. You're so helpful.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you're so that's my baby. You're funny, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I like people who are nice and it's rewarding working with people when they're nice, but yeah, these days, man, it's it can be tough.
SPEAKER_01There's not really anybody that comes in that's like really irritating. It's just a like I don't know, it's just probably their mood or something, who knows?
SPEAKER_00That's good that that doesn't bother you.
SPEAKER_01But Loki, it like I'm like, oh my god. Sometimes, but it's whatever.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I mean, that's probably at school too. I mean, that probably happens all the time, you know. That always there's always somebody that just kind of a little bit different.
Love On The Spectrum Moments
SPEAKER_01It doesn't happen often, though. That's a good part. So here's that.
SPEAKER_00This is what I do. I like to topic jump. So speaking of that and people being irritating are different, uh, a new season of Love on the Spectrum came out. Yeah. And this is what I love about that show. I I want to say, I was gonna say people with autism, but to be honest, I don't really know much about autism. So, anyway, I love on the show how the um not the not the characters, but the the the people on the show. Oh, okay, yeah. They're not contestants, I know. But I don't know what the cast. That's I know the cast. They are trying really hard to not be judgy, but like I feel like with autism, one of the strong traits is like they can't hide their facial features or they say things without really thinking about how they sound when they come out. And it's really funny. Like one of the guys, he has an imaginary girlfriend because because he just wanted to like be able to have somebody to talk to and kind of like kind of like a girlfriend experience, but not, but not.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_00And so his family's like, Oh, when you go on this date, like if you like this girl, are you gonna break up with I don't know her name, the imaginary girlfriend?
SPEAKER_01He for sure would.
SPEAKER_00And he said, like, no, I'm not gonna do that. Don't tell the new girl about my imaginary girlfriend.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, what the heck?
SPEAKER_00And they're like, Well, why would you need your imaginary girlfriend anymore if you have a real girlfriend?
SPEAKER_01That's true, I guess.
SPEAKER_00He's like, Well, it's just like having a friend, like maybe I want to talk to her sometime when my girlfriend's not there.
SPEAKER_01That that's fair enough. Yeah, if you've talked to them for a while, I guess.
SPEAKER_00And like sometimes they'll be like, this person it enjoys train crashes. This person enjoys the smell of um manure, and it's like the hell that's not what you would like. When people are like, hey, tell me two things you like and two things you don't like. Most people aren't gonna say, I love the smell of manure, and I love watching trains crash.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no one would freaking say that. That's that's out of this world, I'm gonna be honest.
SPEAKER_00So anyway, it's it's funny. Like they're it's not supposed to be funny, but they're funny. They have like the best intentions. It's just it's a cute show. And if you really enjoy it, I love it. Look at it, I'm smiling so big. And also if you're blushing also fun when I watch Love on the Spectrum because I always call Connor and Lise my friends because I interviewed Lise two seasons ago, and I got to meet Connor in the interview.
SPEAKER_01So Oh, yeah, I remember you saying that a while ago. Yeah, it comes back, yeah. I remember that.
Gaming Desk Plans And Rage
SPEAKER_00So that's always like, I know them, I met them. Like, oh my god. Oh my gosh. It's so crazy. So, anyway, they're super nice people. So I want to circle back about or you're talking about the cat, and then when I was like, Oh, we should look on marketplace. I also had asked you we should look on marketplace for a desk for your gaming setup. Yeah, it's pretty um and we could like where your Xbox and TV is, we should get you like something like this.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, do you want to get something like that?
SPEAKER_00And then you would have more storage and it's bigger for your game. Yeah, just for like you just can't be raging on it.
SPEAKER_01I'm not going to. I stopped doing that a while ago. So but I did stab the shit out of it with like um a freaking screwdriver. Why?
SPEAKER_00That's psycho.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. I'll just get mad and be like, and just stab it. I don't know why.
SPEAKER_00I could sometimes hear you pounding down there. Not so much anymore. Oh, I do it on my What the fuck are you doing down there?
SPEAKER_01When I'm pounding on it, it's me pounding on my chair. It just shakes a lot. So it rattles like crazy.
SPEAKER_00I don't think I don't think you realize how to do it. I gotta get it out, Mom.
SPEAKER_01I can't help it. I gotta just get it out. It just feels good to get it out, you know? Yeah. I gotta express my mood. It helps get the rage out. I just gotta get it out.
SPEAKER_00You have that much rage in your body? Why are you so rageful?
SPEAKER_01I don't. I just I don't know, it's fun to do it too for the most part. What? It's the truth. All truth here.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I don't know if I like to rage. It doesn't make me feel good. Sometimes I like to sing. You like to sing out that's how I get my emotions out when I have my jam sessions, which I don't tell very often anymore.
SPEAKER_01That's fair. Yeah. Honestly.
SPEAKER_00That's that's like we get it out. You gotta cool off and get it from me. Sometimes I gotta cry it out. Sometimes I gotta dance it out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you gotta cry it out.
SPEAKER_00Scream into my speaker, sing, scream, sing into my speaker, and I feel like I'm blending.
SPEAKER_01Hitting there. So, what's next? I'm kind of off track, I don't think.
Landscaping Class And Paver Project
SPEAKER_00Well, I I know I was just waiting to see. There's so much that's happened, but like a lot of it's kind of like we're just a random side quest.
SPEAKER_01Oh, wait, also I did go on a couple e-bike rides though.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I wanted you to talk about how you're doing step classes and you're doing landscaping.
SPEAKER_01So I have a landscaping class, and so far that we're like talking about like a few.
SPEAKER_00And you go to college, the college to teach. Yeah, I do.
SPEAKER_01I do go to the college at like, I think I leave at like 11 10 I leave, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And do you feel like you're skipping school, cutting out early when you leave?
SPEAKER_01No, I come home and I get a little snack and eat something, so my I'm like not hungry as shit. And then I go to the college for like two hours and then I come home. And what we do in the class is so far what we've done. The first project we had in the class was we got planter boxes out of like their stash room of where they are, whatever. And we brought them in, and the next day we uh we put we had to go outside and there's a tool shed. We had to get shovels and uh there's like compactors to pack down dirt.
SPEAKER_00Did you get hose?
SPEAKER_01No, we didn't need any hosing, no, it's just all dry. What?
SPEAKER_00Hose Are we serious? Oh no, we didn't need any hose.
SPEAKER_01Are we yo, are you making a joke out of this right now?
SPEAKER_00You were so serious. Okay, anyway. I mean so did it. The compactors. Shovels and compactors. That's what you said.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it is. It's a com the thing, and it's like a big like platform you smack it down to pack down stuff.
SPEAKER_00I don't know what that is. I understand what you're saying. I'm just saying I never seen one before.
SPEAKER_01Okay, yeah, that's probably true. I haven't seen it too either. And I was like, okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, don't come at me.
SPEAKER_01But I was like, oh, I know what that is off the bat. Like, I'm smart enough to know that at least. But anyways, we got tools and we had to get sand, so I'll base it out for you. So what we had to do is you put a like, I think it was a one-inch layer of sand on the bottom of the planter box through the whole way. And what you do, you dump it in, you like dump it in, and you portion it out, and then you flatten it out with like a flat board. You gotta have it flat though, level. Push it all over until it's like you gotta have it level. If it's not level, it it won't last long. It won't look good either. There's that too. And you do that as first layer, and the next layer is like harder rocks, it's more of like light gravel, but it's still like almost sandy, you know? It's like crunchy, like really small pebbles kind of, but not like tiny pebbles. And you put that in there, I think it's uh 1.5 inch, so one and a half inches. Well, yeah, 1.5, sure, we'll go with that. That sounds better. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_00I'm like trying to like demonstrate one and a half, one point five.
SPEAKER_01Are we? I'm glad that you know that those are equal.
SPEAKER_00Those are equal. No, I was not gonna be. I'm locked. And you looked at me and started laughing. I can't help that. I'm not laughing, I'm just smiling.
SPEAKER_01I'm just happy here.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I'm glad. I'm happy too.
SPEAKER_01Back to it. So, anyways, 1.5. 1.5, um shit. 1.5 of those small gravel pebbles, and then you have one more layer of bigger rocks. I think it's two inches, you put that on, and then you pack it down again. You you pack down the other you don't pack down the first layer, you lay on the first like pebble ones layers first, the 1.5, and then you pack that down, and then the next layer, the two inch, pack that down too, and then you place your um because we're doing it for platforms, so we had to go get uh pavers, is what they're called. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00Yep, I know. Yeah, pavers patio pavers.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, patio pavers, yeah. They look really good. Yeah, they would look probably so good, but in our backyard they look tough. And anyways, so we got those and we just like put them down and packed them down and leveled it out and everything. And then that was it. And then we cleaned it up and put everything the heck where it was, basically. And then remember when I I I gotta tell you, I really fricked my hand here. Yeah, both of 'em. Both of them, right I had friction going because we had to shake uh right in between the web of my hand is where it like burned off basically. From the friction. So you have wood.
SPEAKER_00You had Okay, what is so because you just said you had friction on your hand from the wood.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That's what That's what it's the truth.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Like, bro, you gotta make dirty gels on the road.
SPEAKER_00So you had like slivers. Is that what you had more slivers?
SPEAKER_01It wasn't like slivery. It's just like I kept going and I didn't like ever take my hands off, and we were shaking it back and forth. It was a it was like a ladder-based thing with two things.
SPEAKER_00You're shaking the wood back and forth? With who?
SPEAKER_01Mom.
SPEAKER_00Can we lock in? All right, all right, all right. A focus.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00So my question about the project is is that what you guys are doing is just making a patio with patio platforms?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we had to shake the sand out to get them split out because we couldn't put sand with gravel in there because it'd be mixed up and we don't want to work again. So we had to be able to reuse it. So we had to split the different types of dirts up and put them in the wheelbarrow and wheelbarrow them out into the pile again, is what we did.
SPEAKER_00So, all the work that you did. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's I was sweating my ass off, but I'm locked in. It looks it's looking good for me.
SPEAKER_00So do you have a partner in that class?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we have a group of three.
SPEAKER_00Do you like your group?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, my group is good. Yeah, they're chill. Girls, boys, boys, all boys, yeah. It's good. But they're chill too. They're good. That's good. See, I was excited about it. We do cooperate when we need to as well, so that's good.
SPEAKER_00Do they fuck off? No.
SPEAKER_01We all do our work, yeah. We're all do you know them from your school? No, they're all from different schools, but they're chill.
SPEAKER_00That's cool. They get to meet people from other schools. That way it just helps you branch out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, it's good too. Yeah, get to know people, yeah. That's good for you. But so that's what we did, and then today, actually, we in the morning, what we do, I've already told you, but they don't know. We have a slideshow of a bunch of plants. It's like so many plants, and I think it might be like around 200, maybe like 150, something like that.
SPEAKER_00Are you going to plants? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01No, like really, mom. Are we serious?
SPEAKER_00No, and so they show you a bunch of pictures of plants.
SPEAKER_01Yes, a bunch of pictures of plants, and she tells us that they're perennial or annual. Oh, yeah. Yeah, we talked about this. Yeah. And I think perennial is all year. Yep. Remember how I told you an annual annual. I think of it as anniversary. Every year. An anniversary is like once. Every year, yeah. Every year. That's how I thought of it. Bam. With the A, yep. And so, anyways, wait, I lost thought. Wait.
SPEAKER_00So she puts up the princess perennial or annual.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so that's something we learned, and we learned the type of dirt they take. We we've also learned about like the dirt that's best for growing. Like there's tur certain grasses that you like uh dirt that you use for planting it in shade or light or like the certain environment. We're learning about that too.
SPEAKER_00You like that class?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the class is so good so far. I'm not gonna lie.
SPEAKER_00Good.
SPEAKER_01Said it again.
SPEAKER_00I didn't even I didn't even catch it. Shit, I should not send anything. Do you have Tourette's?
SPEAKER_01Maybe, I'm not gonna lie.
SPEAKER_00It might just be a You just said I'm not gonna lie. Kylie Kelsey, you should have do a commercial for you. No, stop. Jeez, I'm taking a break. Yeah, yeah, take a break. So for old time's sake, did you bring a would you rather or a joke or anything? Okay, wait.
SPEAKER_01You gotta give me time to at least think something. I can think something up. I'll cook. I'll cook. But you gotta keep talking, figure out something here.
SPEAKER_00What are you cooking? Don't worry, I'm gonna think of something good here. You said I'm gonna cook.
Would You Rather Plus Bio Tangent
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm gonna cook something here. I'm gonna try. Okay, well try my best as much as I can. Okay. So my would you rather is would you rather get hit by a car going twenty-five miles an hour, whipping a corner? So it's whipping turning from a left turn and you're walking in the crosswalk. Or would you rather get stung by seven wasps from from a wasp's nest? What is your choice?
SPEAKER_00I know would you rather you're supposed to just like pick one? Yeah, but I like to analyze them.
SPEAKER_01Okay, go ahead. I'm I'm listening. I like analyzing. Like your thoughts.
SPEAKER_00Pros and cons. Getting hit, if you don't die, do you die? No. Okay.
SPEAKER_01You don't die.
SPEAKER_00I mean, you could have a settlement and get a lot of money from that.
SPEAKER_01It's uh it's not like a tall truck, it's not like a tall car, but it's not like it's like in between the middle.
SPEAKER_00Depending on how fucked up you get from the accidents, yeah. They'd have to give you some.
SPEAKER_01It's not bad injuries, it's not vital injuries, let's say.
SPEAKER_00But it could all right, so you walk away and you're 100% fine.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but it you might it might like hurt for a couple of days and stuff, but maybe a couple of injuries, maybe some cuts, maybe some damage.
SPEAKER_00Kind of damn it, brain damage? Not brain damage, but like stitches, cuts, maybe like scraping.
SPEAKER_01Do you break your arm? No. Okay.
SPEAKER_00No breaking. Your arm hurts for a little bit, a couple of days. Just sore.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, just sore basically.
SPEAKER_00I'd rather get stung by the water.
SPEAKER_01But not like a terrible screen.
SPEAKER_00I'd rather get stung by the wasp? Yeah. Seven?
SPEAKER_01Seven.
SPEAKER_00And now if I could get a settlement and make some money off of getting hit, not that I would be that person, but if you hit me.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but if you hit me if they offered the money or taking like, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_00But if you hit me, you're gonna pay. Yeah, if you hit me like pay attention. But yeah, that's that's on you for not paying attention. I'm not jumping out in front of your car asking. So what would you pick?
SPEAKER_01I'm I'm picking the wasps.
SPEAKER_00Are you who's scared of getting stung by bees? Unless you know you're allergic, then you could die. But what if if you're not allergic? I feel like people don't like getting stung.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. It's like a thing. But all right, if you're getting if you're allergic to bees, are you allergic to wasps too then?
SPEAKER_00Well, you're usually allergic to the venom that's in their stinger.
SPEAKER_01So you would be allergic to wasps or not?
SPEAKER_00Not necessarily. So a lot of people do allergy testing, and then it says if they're allergic to like honeybees, honeybee venom or wasp venom. So they'll test you for the okay.
SPEAKER_01It there's different types. So they didn't know, okay.
SPEAKER_00But some but I didn't know you could be allergic to both types.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, that's possible. Yeah, but some people are just allergic. It's just traits, you know. Well, they're not about that in s uh bio right now.
SPEAKER_00I love your bioclusion. Mountain lions, the DNA and chromosomes.
SPEAKER_01Not that long ago, did you know they brought eight um mountain lions to Florida from Texas? Texas mountain lions uh delivered eight female mountain lions to Florida because their population was 50 about three years ago, and over the time it's like 238. It's it's going up. It's pretty good right now.
SPEAKER_00Well, those those mama mountain lions, they've been kicking out some babies.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because they're doing a lot of inbreeding.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And it's slowing down their gene pools, what we call it. Yeah, and those eight females um helped the gene flow, is what we call it, and it got it going again. Yep.
SPEAKER_00So that's why you don't have a baby.
Joke Time And Closing Thanks
SPEAKER_01So it really developed because they needed more gene patterns in their traits, or else it just kills off the family, it kills your bloodline. Can't do it. It doesn't work like that. Don't work like that. Well, that's not how it works in life. You gotta do it with someone not from blood. Just how it is.
SPEAKER_00Alright. So I have a funny joke for you, and then we are going to say goodbye.
SPEAKER_01Oh, ready?
SPEAKER_00Oh, well, what do you want to tell us? Do you want to talk about? We can come back next week.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you're right. I'm ready whenever when you're you're ready too.
SPEAKER_00Okay, well, here's my joke.
SPEAKER_01All right.
SPEAKER_00Are you ready to laugh? I'm ready. Let's see if you get it. Okay. What do you call a Jamaican proctologist? Do you know what a proctologist is?
SPEAKER_01I actually don't. Can you tell me?
SPEAKER_00They look in your butt.
SPEAKER_01And say the joke again.
SPEAKER_00What do you call a Jamaican proctologist?
SPEAKER_01What does proc mean? I don't know what it means.
SPEAKER_00I'm just gonna tell you the joke and the answer. What do you call a Jamaican proctologist? Pokemon.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god. Yo, mom.
SPEAKER_00Pokemon.
SPEAKER_01I get yo, that is crazy. Pokemon.
SPEAKER_00Well, in Jamaica Mon. They call it like that, so it's Pokemon. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god. Gotcha. You're good.
SPEAKER_00You get a pokey.
SPEAKER_01No, not me. I'm I'm gonna pass on the pokey. I don't know what the hokey pokey.
SPEAKER_00I'm trying to think how it goes. You do the pokey.
SPEAKER_01Pokey pokey and you turn yourself around. That's what it's like. That's what it's all about. I don't remember that.
SPEAKER_00That's when you put your butt in. You put your backside in. You put your backside out.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god. You put your backside out. I haven't done that since like torque it all about. Yo, you should be seeing what she's doing right now. Holy crap.
SPEAKER_00Some things are better left unseen.
