Send us a text

A heartwarming mother-son conversation unfolds as Kelli and Mac reconnect after spring break to share life's triumphs, lessons, and occasional mishaps. Mac's academic transformation takes center stage as he reveals how he turned a struggling D grade into an impressive A-minus by completing missing assignments – a testament to perseverance and responsibility that any parent would celebrate.

The episode transitions into an exciting announcement about Mac's future educational path. He'll soon begin STEP classes at the technical college, exploring trades like masonry, electrical work, welding, and plumbing – practical experiences designed to help him discover his passion before committing to a career direction. This hands-on approach exemplifies how modern education can better prepare students for real-world success.

Kelli shares essential life lessons every son should hear, creating a powerful framework for developing strong character and navigating life's challenges. From the importance of honesty and taking responsibility to treating others with respect and managing emotions, these timeless principles serve as guideposts for becoming a man of integrity. Her wisdom covers practical advice on friendship, risk-taking, money management, and maintaining health – delivered with the authentic care that only a mom can provide.

In a candid moment of vulnerability, Kelli recounts her recent chicken-hatching experiment that yielded just one survivor from thirty eggs. She describes the unexpected emotional toll and her decision to pivot rather than continue struggling – a refreshing reminder that sometimes the wisest path forward means acknowledging when to change direction.

Speaker 1:

Hey guys, welcome back to Honor of Best Behavior. You're here with Mac and Kelly.

Speaker 2:

Hey, how are you doing? Good, you've been clearing your throat a lot. I think it's a lot to do with the weather, because I feel like when I go outside and inside, my nose is all plugged up. I feel like I have also had a lot of that where I can't get my throat clear. Spring, you know allergies, things are thawing out, things are coming to life, blooming, budding and releasing all the things that are, I guess, so that's getting cold again for some reason.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I know, in Minnesota you can never be surprised by the weather. We were supposed to have a snow storm today, ended up being just a windy day. You mean last night? No, it was supposed to start this morning at 8.

Speaker 1:

Oh, is that actually? Yeah, oh, oh, oh.

Speaker 2:

Oh, oh, oh, all right, all right. So what's new? What do you got going on? Do you want to talk about where we ended last time, when we talked about you were getting ready to take finals for the end of the second trimester? Yeah, so did you get your grades to where they needed to be, or are you grounded for the trimester?

Speaker 1:

I'm grounded. I'm kidding Heck. No, I'm locked in.

Speaker 2:

So how did that Tell me? Tell us how that worked out, cause you were at like a D, weren't you?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that shit went to A minus.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you, you, you worked.

Speaker 1:

It was at like a 96, bro, that was a 98, I meant a Whoa A 60, it was a 68.

Speaker 2:

A 68. What Percent?

Speaker 1:

That's like a D, yeah, and then you got it up to a 96, yeah, something like that that's crazy to me like somewhere on there.

Speaker 2:

No, it was a 91 how can you go from a d to an a minus in like 12 hours? Bro, I'm just that good I'm not a bro, I'm a mom I have four missing assignments oh, you had missing assignments.

Speaker 1:

Yes, but when I turned them in and this guy did not grade them. So I sent him a because I turned them in and, like I think I turned them in on Friday, sent him an email and I don't even think he, I think he went home like as soon as we went home too.

Speaker 2:

So I don't think he even graded them. So it makes your grade look worse because it just isn't graded.

Speaker 1:

So he says if you email me and stuff, he'll update stuff and I'll go look at it how was your?

Speaker 2:

you got your grades up. You weren't grounded, you pulled it off. How was your spring break? It was very relaxing did you do anything? Any highlights? Best day, best moment what do you got I?

Speaker 1:

don't know, I'm not your bro, I'm your mom.

Speaker 2:

I know, but like, did you do anything Any?

Speaker 1:

highlights Best day, best moment. What do you got? I don't know, I'm not your bro, I'm your mom, I know. But like what do you want me to call you?

Speaker 2:

then, mom Bro, that's so lame.

Speaker 1:

You just said bro, I know, but it's so lame though.

Speaker 2:

All right, fine, you can call me bro. I guess what do I get to call you?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2:

Butt licker.

Speaker 1:

That's not cool, though. Okay, all right, I'm not a butt licker.

Speaker 2:

What is cool, mac?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's cool.

Speaker 2:

What do your friends call you?

Speaker 1:

Some call me that and some call me McCoy. Oh, okay, Do you want me to call you McCoy?

Speaker 2:

Sure.

Speaker 1:

I don't really care what you call me.

Speaker 2:

Just don't call you late for dinner. Loves, you are my loves. I do like that. All right loves. So tell me about your new all right. So if spring break was uneventful, is what you say? Nothing? Just relaxing I didn't do much either, but it was relaxing. Karma is my boyfriend. How's that? Karma, bro, because you just smashed your head for calling me.

Speaker 1:

Oh my god that, oh. This highlighted the day okay oh my god. So me and logan a fourth hour together. It's like chemistry Okay, chemistry B. You guys would have chemistry together.

Speaker 2:

We always had.

Speaker 1:

We had science last year together, bro. We always did science class together and oh my God. So we had a lab today and we were going there and you had to put on goggles so you don't get like chemicals in your eyes. And he was like there, there's like this like thing to um to like get the uh, like, like you know, you wash your hands. You gotta like dry your hands off or something paper towel, yeah, like I don't what is it called.

Speaker 1:

Like you know, when you go in a school bathroom and you like, it's a paper towel dispenser. Yeah, that yeah that, and it was like right above the like. The goggles are in a bin on the floor by it and he's like don't bonk your head, it won't hurt, but it's going to be loud. And as soon as he says that, it's going to be like and me and Logan were the only ones that laughed, it was just silent and we laughed. It was so funny.

Speaker 2:

Who bonked their head, some random person, it was just so funny, bro.

Speaker 1:

I you guys couldn't get it under control. It was funny as hell. You had to be there. We both looked at each other and laughed. It was so funny I can't even.

Speaker 2:

It was just so funny I'm glad that you had a highlight of the day, because usually when I'm like tell me something that happened, something funny, you're like that was fucking hilarious. All right, so let's talk about your new classes. So you have first hour, you have painting.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Have you ever took painting before? I feel like you've had drawing but not painting.

Speaker 1:

I don't think I have.

Speaker 2:

So what do you do? You know what you're going to be painting.

Speaker 1:

Nope, not yet, Not yet okay.

Speaker 2:

Then you have US history.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

How's that going?

Speaker 1:

Good right now.

Speaker 2:

Okay, anyone you know in that class Not really Anyone you know in that class Not really. Anyone you know in painting.

Speaker 1:

Nope.

Speaker 2:

Okay, then you have geometry, which is math, right?

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Anything to say about that class. I don't know. It's easy right now, so this is where I get confused.

Speaker 1:

It says you have geometry and then it says you have geometry college. It's an elective grade for the class, so you get college credit. No, it's just an elective grade. Hmm I know, I know it's weird to explain. I know I'm like I don't even know what that means.

Speaker 2:

Okay, and then you have chemistry with Logan.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

And then you have keyboarding.

Speaker 1:

Mm-hmm.

Speaker 2:

Anyone in your keyboarding class?

Speaker 1:

Nope.

Speaker 2:

Is it all chicks in there?

Speaker 1:

No, it's not Pretty easy, though, so far.

Speaker 2:

This try what's your favorite class so far?

Speaker 1:

Frickin' chemistry with Logan.

Speaker 2:

Okay, just because Logan's in there, or third hour.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, literally, just because Logan's in there.

Speaker 2:

Or math or science are your favorite.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Not painting or keyboarding. Nope, no gym class.

Speaker 1:

I guess it is what it is.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I know what I wanted to talk about. That I didn't tell you ahead of time.

Speaker 1:

What.

Speaker 2:

So I'm really excited because next year I talked to your counselor at school and we got you set up for step classes. So that means you'll go to the tech college and you'll do classes that are pertaining to trades. So you can kind of dabble your hands in a bunch of things that they offer at the tech, which includes masonry, cabinetry, electrical work, plumbing, I don't remember what else, but anyway like a handful of the welding. I don't remember what else, but anyway like a handful of the welding, so things like that. So you can kind of try and see if you're interested in any of those career paths, or maybe something that you thought you wanted to do, like you really thought you wanted to do electrician or plumber and then you don't like it at all. Then you know it and then you're not wasting your time. So that's exciting. Yeah, anything else to talk about regarding those topics?

Speaker 2:

Regarding a topic, bro, regarding school or classes or your future.

Speaker 1:

No, not really no okay, all right.

Speaker 2:

So what I want to talk about next is Magic Mind. Next is Magic Mind Now. We've talked about Magic Mind on the podcast many times and I just want to tell you that why we love Magic Mind so much is. In my lifetime I have tried so many different products to stimulate my mind or give me some health benefits or make me think more clear, and I have wasted so much money with no results. But now that I have found Magic Mind, it really enhances not only my mental performance, but I can say that you also have had improved mental performance at school. I mean, you went from having a D minus, d plus to an A minus in 12 hours. And let me tell you, I keep Magic Mind in my desk at work because sometimes I'm really bad at taking any medications in the morning. So I bring my magic mind to work and I can tell like when I need it. Like, oh, something's not right, like, oh, I need to take my magic mind. So once I take my mental performance shot, I like today, for example.

Speaker 2:

Today I was like, oh, I really need my magic mind and I wasn't and I don't. You know, whatever this, whatever this might maybe it is some placebo, but I truly believe in this product and I wasn't even done drinking it and I already felt like more enhanced and I just really, you know, I used to say like it wasn't the best tasting, but I don't know if it has an acquired taste where I actually enjoy the flavor of it now.

Speaker 1:

I just get used to it.

Speaker 2:

I also think tell me what you think about this. I feel like since, like a while ago, we did Magic Mind and then recently we started doing it again, and I feel like they changed. The color looks different to me. It looks a little more brighter and I feel like the flavor isn't as grassy as I used to think it was.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's not.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. So I love that. It's not hard to drink and I keep it in my desk. And when people are having like a day where they're like, oh, I can't wake up or I'm really struggling, I'm like, hey, have you tried Magic Mind? I have some in my desk, you should check it out. And every time people are like, oh my gosh, that stuff really works. So I love that it is. I love the ingredients that they use. I believe in the ingredients that they use and the quality of ingredients that they use and the benefits of all the ingredients on there. I love that when I read the ingredient list, like I know what everything is. It's not filled with a bunch of junk. So, anyway, do you want to do? You have anything to say about Magic Mind? Do you have a story of how it helped you?

Speaker 1:

um, yeah, like it wakes you up, like you said when you're like feeling like you gotta doze off it does all that, yeah. And like for like tests like I feel like I'm locked in on those tests, just helps so we're gonna put this in the show notes for you.

Speaker 2:

But we are offering you a special, special discount code 20% off a one-time purchase, or up to 48% off with a subscription. Now let me tell you I just got done telling you how Mackie and I have stopped taking MagicMind because, guess what? We run out of it. So now with our subscription, we never run out. We always get free shipping. It just gets delivered right to the door. Yesterday or the day before that it came and you're like mom, guess what? Magic mind? And I was like, oh, perfect, because now we're not going to run out.

Speaker 2:

If, for some reason, life happens and you need to cancel, it's super easy. They don't question you, you just hit cancel and you're done. 100% money back guarantee. If, for some reason, you think it doesn't work which I'm promising you it does they just yeah, money back guarantee for your first purchase, no questions. So anyway, you get 15 bottle. There's a 15 bottle case and a 30 bottle case and it is designed for um. One shot per day or one shot every two days, however much you need, depending on how you need it.

Speaker 2:

Now I'm going to be honest with you. I don't use magic mind on the weekends because I like to kind of feel like taking my time moving slow, I want to take a nap. So I kind of feel like taking my time moving slow, I want to take a nap. So I kind of like having that downtime. But when I'm at work I depend on Magic Mind to get me through the day and, like I said before, all of my coworkers who I'm like, hey, you're having a bad day, try this. They right away believe in this product.

Speaker 2:

So we are going to put some codes in the show note for you so you can get Magic Mind subscription which is up to 48% off with our code, it is O-O-B-B-L-T-20. Otherwise you can get that's for the subscription. But if you want to just go slow and try a one-time buy, you can use the same code and you can get 20% off a one-time purchase. So it just kind of depends on what box you check when you go on the Magic Mind website. But, like I said, we'll link that in the show notes for you. And if you haven't got on board with it yet, mac and I are here to promise you you won't regret it and, um, you'll stop wasting your money on anything else. Okay, you're quiet, you want anything?

Speaker 2:

else, yeah, okay, all right, so I know it's been a minute, uh, since we recorded, so we want to talk. I wanted to tell you a story about valentine's day that I was really proud of, mac, for McCoy loves. That was really surprised, really proud of my loves for. So on Valentine's Day I came home from work it was a Friday and I had told loves that I wanted to have Chinese takeout and whatever, whatever. So I get home and I'm like, hey, loves, here's your, here's your valentine's day present. And you're like, oh, thanks, mom, I love all this stuff. And then I said where's my present? And then what?

Speaker 2:

I don't know you didn't have a present for me yeah, I know so then what happened? You already know what happened tell the know what happened, tell the listeners what happened. I was just kidding.

Speaker 1:

So I said I'm going to bring you, I'm going to help you, you're going to bring me to what is it called?

Speaker 2:

I said you're going to drive and you're going to bring. We're going to go to TJ Maxx. Yeah, I am going to wait in the car.

Speaker 1:

Yep.

Speaker 2:

Here's my card. Oh yeah, and you had to go pick out stuff and I said you can spend either a minimum of $20 up to $50, and you need to come out with some Valentine's Day presents for your mom. Yep, I'm getting stuffy, so do you remember what you got me?

Speaker 1:

Actually.

Speaker 2:

You were in there for a long time. I was bro. No, it was good.

Speaker 1:

I honestly don't remember, I know I got a bowl for your chicken.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so Ari came with and you got her a little ergonomic lifted up bowl so she didn't have to bend her neck so much.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

And it's like a purplish pink color.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so that was cute.

Speaker 2:

What else did I get?

Speaker 1:

you Caramels.

Speaker 2:

Ghirardelli caramels. Those are the best. And then, what else did I get? You got me a bunny coffee cup, oh yeah, and a huge candle oh yeah, I see it's right. Lavender sea salt yeah, and it smells so good.

Speaker 2:

It was only a good smelling one so the reason that I did that is not that I was upset that you didn't get me anything for valentine's day, but more the fact that I want you to. As young man, I want you to learn how to be a grown man and what to do for your significant other on Valentine's Day, and to never forget that, whether anyone says it's important or not important, it is always important to be thoughtful, and no one's ever going to be mad at you for being a good, kind person. So I just want to instill these values into you, and now I'm going to go into some life lessons that every son should be taught. So here is me teaching you 30, not 30, but a handful of life lessons, okay, so number one and this is hard for me too. I think this is hard for a lot of people because at a very young age, our brain has us lying. So always be honest, even when it's hard, and I've talked to you about this so many times If I ask you a question and I can see you're struggling to answer it, I'll say do you need a minute to get your words together? Do you want to go to your room and figure out how you want to answer it, because I feel like sometimes we get put on the spot and then it's almost expected to have a fast answer and so sometimes we just need I think it's okay to say I need some time to get my thoughts and words together.

Speaker 2:

So honesty is the best policy. If you're honest, you have nothing to hide or lie about and nothing to try to remember. So, anyway, be honest, mccoy. Yes, always take responsibility for your actions, and this kind of goes hand in hand with lying. So one of the best bosses that I ever had she always would tell me like if you fucked up, own it, Because people are going to have so much more respect for you if you just say that was me, or I didn't mean to do that, but that was me, you know, whatever. So it's a lot easier than trying to deny it or lie or blame it on somebody else. Just own it when you did it wrong and always remember. This is what I try to remember, especially from a work standpoint. I don't do anything wrong on purpose. I try to make decisions that I think are right and smart and ethical, and if it's not, then you don't do it, and so that way if you do get quote unquote in trouble for something, you can be honest and say that you didn't know and you learn from that and you grow and you move forward. Okay, so when you do something, just take responsibility for it.

Speaker 2:

Work hard beats challenge, I'm sorry. Hard work beats talent when talent is lazy. So you know, mackie, you and I we always want things to come natural to us. We don't like to take the time to learn how to do something, we just want to be a natural at it. But honestly, if you are once again, if you work hard and you have good work ethic, you're always going to come ahead. Because the people who it comes naturally to them, they usually don't have to work as hard because they get lazy, because it's natural. But then they slack and don't put in the work. Does that make sense?

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

All right. Number four respect everyone, regardless of status. So don't ever think you're better than people, don't think you're above them. Just, once again, be kind and try not to judge people and try not to make assumptions and give everyone a benefit of the doubt. Now, that can be hard, when it's hard to respect people who have poor work ethic or people who make poor life choices, but you have to just try to either respect it or just stay in your lane and mind your own business. Okay, okay, control your emotions. Don't let them control you. So that's another thing where. Try to think more logically and try to take emotions out of thought process, and that can be very difficult, but in the long run, it is going to help you so much and this is what we always say. People are usually, if they're trying to push you or poke at you, it's because they want a reaction out of you Like bullies, for example If people are picking on you.

Speaker 2:

They want that reaction, they want to make you mad, and if you can not give that to them, they're probably not going to pick on you anymore. So if you can keep your emotions in check, you're going to get ahead. It's okay to say no. Saying no is a strength, not a weakness. Do you have any questions about that one?

Speaker 2:

If you don't want to do something, say no Peer pressure. You don't want to try a cigarette don't try it. You don't want to try alcohol don't try it. You don't want to smoke weed don't do it. Keep your word. It defines your character. If you promise somebody you're going to do something or be somewhere, you need to abide by that. You can't, you need to be dependable. Does this make sense to you? Okay, so if you say oh hey, sam, I'm gonna meet you at the park at 6 o'clock and then you just don't show up.

Speaker 2:

That's not okay. Or, if you make a promise, you need to keep your promise. Failure is just a lesson, it's not the end. We all need to fail to grow and we all need to have bad days to really appreciate good days. That's true, I guess. Okay, okay, choose friends who lift you up. So make sure that you choose to be friends with people who think that you're great and tell you you're great and and and don't bring you down. It's one thing if you guys are joking around, whatever, but you don't want to be with toxic people. You want to be with people who make you feel good. Like me, I make you feel good about yourself because I think that you're the best thing ever. Okay, stand up for yourself with confidence. Believe in yourself. Don't let people push you around. Just be confident and nip things right in the butt. Don't allow anything less than what you deserve.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

Know your worth. That's a good way to put it. Listen more than you speak. This is something I really need to work on, because I'm always piping up. But people who can keep their mouth shut and only answer questions that are asked of them or spoke when spoken to you, just come off as much more intelligent than trying to know everything or have an answer for everything. Just, people will respect you more if you just I always say don't ask, don't tell.

Speaker 2:

So if something doesn't involve you and I'm really bad at this don't pipe up, just stay in your lane, mind your own business unless you're asked. I feel like you're good at that. What? Staying in your lane and minding your own business? Yeah, apologize when you're wrong. Apology goes such a long way If you made someone feel a way that you didn't mean to make them feel, if you said something that was hurtful. Sometimes I say something and it comes out in the wrong way or the wrong tone and I'll try to say like oh, that came out really bitchy and I didn't mean for that to happen. I'm sorry. And people have really received that well, because I've had a problem with tone a lot in my life and if I catch it right away people are like okay, all right, you're not a bitch, you just caught yourself and you apologized, and people respect that. Never stop learning and growing.

Speaker 1:

Just joking.

Speaker 2:

Never stop learning and growing. You never know it all. There's always more to learn. Things are always changing, so just remember you don't always know everything. Money is important, but integrity is priceless. So don't ever lose your integrity. Okay, but yes, we need to make money. We need to be able to support ourselves, support our families and get our basic needs, but don't ever lose integrity over it. Treat women with respect and kindness always. Okay, do you have any questions?

Speaker 1:

about that.

Speaker 2:

I feel like you're good about that. Be humble, but don't let people walk over you. We're going to go through this a little bit quick because I don't want to, and you ask if you have a question. Okay, okay, your time is valuable. Spend it wisely. Don't be afraid to take risks. Health is wealth. Take care of yourself. Speak up for what's right, even if you stand alone, and I've taught you this from a very young age like guilty by association. So if a bunch of people are picking on somebody like it is your responsibility to say knock it off, leave her alone, leave him alone, mind your own business. Whatever I always say, you better stick up for people if they're being treated in a way that's not right. Keep your circle small but strong. You don't need a lot of friends, you just need a handful of really good ones. Learn how to manage money early.

Speaker 2:

I think about this all the time when I was younger. If I saved more money or started investing my money, I could have bought real estate and flipped houses and rented places out or bought. Like you know, I really wish like I could afford to buy like a condo in Florida and rent it out like Airbnb style. If you do that when you're young and save up that money and put that money towards investments and equity and things that can have money return. That's super smart. When I was young, the the economy was good. It's really bad right now, but house houses were super cheap and affordable. I could have bought in three houses for the price I paid for this house yeah so anyway, something to think about.

Speaker 2:

You know, just try to really. Your money just goes a lot farther when you're young than when you're older, if that makes any sense. Never let fear stop you from trying, like this podcast. I was terrified to do a podcast forever and finally I had the support of why were you scared? Because I just didn't know what to do, how to do it. I didn't know about the software, I didn't know about the equipment, I just knew I wanted to do it. But I didn't know anything about it and I really let that block me for such a long time until I had some more supportive people in my life telling me like you can do that, why wouldn't you do that? Just watch some YouTube video, try this, try that, look at this. Let's go look, look equipment. You know, see what's out there. And now like it's super easy, it's not hard at all. But I didn't think that initially and I let fear really slow me down yeah, just like the 500 thou song that me and rose made.

Speaker 1:

Let's hear it. Oh no, it's like a no, don't worry about it okay, don't bring it up.

Speaker 2:

It's me and rose's special song okay, are you gonna sing it to me after I couldn't even sing it? Okay, will rose sing it up.

Speaker 1:

It's me and Rose's special song. Okay, are you going to sing?

Speaker 2:

it to me after I couldn't even sing it. Okay, will Rose sing it to me?

Speaker 1:

It's like new generational.

Speaker 2:

New generation.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, generational song.

Speaker 2:

New generational song yeah.

Speaker 1:

There's a lot of beating in a little bit of words.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, basically. Yeah, okay, you sing. No, I can't. I'll throw down the beat and you sing.

Speaker 1:

Rose made the beat, bro You're funny.

Speaker 2:

No, okay, manners will take you farther than money. I tell you all the time to be humble and kind and use your manners ever since you were little, and I think that you're really good at that. Be the kind of man people can trust. Being a trustworthy person is a really great quality. Mccoy Trust is everything. Confidence comes from preparation, so being prepared is going to make you more confident than winging it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Help others when you can. Don't waste time impressing the wrong people. Stay true to yourself no matter what, and real strength is in kindness, not in power. You follow these life lessons, mccoy, and you will be a very happy man.

Speaker 1:

Happy man.

Speaker 2:

I could die a happy man. Oh yes, I could. I Happy man. I could die a happy man oh yes, I could. I could die, I could die. I could die a happy man. All right, I'm going to give you guys a quick update on my chickens.

Speaker 1:

Chickens.

Speaker 2:

So I thought it would be really easy to hatch my own eggs and incubate my chicken eggs. So I bought some hatching eggs, which means eggs that are fertilized, ready to be sat on, put them in an incubator. And let me tell you I incubated. What's 18 plus 12?

Speaker 1:

Speaker 2:

30. 30 eggs.

Speaker 1:

Yes, 30.

Speaker 2:

I hatched one chick. I had a lot of unfertilized eggs and then I also because I had to dissect them to see what was going on in this last batch that I hatched one chick. Her name is Hope, because I hope she's a girl and I hope she survives, because she hatched early and she was doing this thing where she couldn't stand up on her feet all the time and she kept flopping on her back.

Speaker 1:

That was because she wanted you to take her out. That's why she she would only do it when I saw her too well anyway.

Speaker 2:

So then I was googling why that would happen and it said it could have been due to improper incubation and that she had that could have caused like a neurological problem. So then I'm like, oh okay, great, now I birthed this chicken that has all these problems. Well, she's doing fine now, but anyway. So I hope she survives and I hope she's a girl.

Speaker 1:

So anyway, I hatched one chick out of 30.

Speaker 2:

And then I had a lot of eggs A lot of eggs.

Speaker 2:

So I YouTubed like how to dissect eggs because, like what if there's a baby in there? And I discovered that I had a lot of eggs that were never even fertilized. I discovered that I had some eggs that definitely started like started growing life but stopped like very early. And then I did have two dead full chickens and that was really sad baby chicks that when I opened the egg they were fully developed in there but they didn't survive. And and I did some research on that, like sometimes it just happens. They said sometimes it can be that there's a little air pocket in the egg when they're ready to hatch and if they're not in the right position and they don't hit the air pocket, they can drown and all the other like I don't know if it's amniotic fluid, but whatever fluid is in the egg for chickens, um, anyway. So it was sad.

Speaker 2:

I feel like when that happened to me, like I almost feel this is gonna sound really like probably silly, but this is how I felt. I really felt like I had like some postpartum depression, like I had this baby chick that was all by herself and she was chirping like she needed something that I could not fulfill, and then I also felt this loss, like I had tried to give life to all these chicks and two of them like died. Like, is that my fault? Did I end their life before it even started? Like I just felt all these terrible emotions, life before it even started, like I just felt all these terrible emotions. So, anyway, I think that I am completely done trying to incubate eggs and I am going to sell all my incubators and yeah, and I'm going to be done with that.

Speaker 2:

So it's way easier to just go buy chicks that are healthy and already sexed as female than trying to do it myself. I had just seen on the internet like people my rest of your eggs done. Yeah, like I dissected them all yesterday. And I like shut down all the incubators.

Speaker 1:

Oh.

Speaker 2:

So yeah, so I think I'm just going to sell that stuff on Marketplace. This weekend. I just saw so many people like posting like oh, how easy it was, and so I don't know what I did wrong. I tried to do all the right things but in the end I'm just not a good scientist. I'm not either. So that's my chicken update. And so, anyway, hope, I did buy her another chick at the I know Gramsci and Garden Place. They were willing to sell me one chick when they heard my sob story about my failed incubation process, and now Hope's been doing better with her new friend, sky, which I named them after.

Speaker 2:

I read a really great book by Colleen Hoover called Hopeless, and anyway, if you read the book, you'll understand that the names in the book are Hope and Sky. So I just thought that that went really good together and that's about all I have. So if you have a would-you-rather, I have a funny joke and we can. I'm starving. I'm going to try to find something to eat after this and I have some podcast work to do as well.

Speaker 1:

Do you?

Speaker 2:

have a, would you rather? Would, you, rather You're not prepared. I just told you you're going to have more confidence if you're prepared. Dude, I am prepared. It was just one of the life lessons I was trying to teach you, and also on Valentine's Day you did take me to the Chinese takeout. Okay, yes, I'm ready.

Speaker 1:

All right. Would you rather have to always say everything that pops into your head?

Speaker 2:

No, one would want that.

Speaker 1:

Or never be able to say the way you feel. So express the way you feel.

Speaker 2:

Hmm, that's kind of to say the way you feel. So express the way you feel. That's kind of a tough one, that one is tough. I feel like I'd rather not be able to express my feelings than if I said every single thing that popped into my head. No one would ever want to spend any amount of time with me. Where are you at with that one? Yeah, same thing Same Is that same reason. Do you have a lot of bad thoughts?

Speaker 2:

Probably thing same is that same reason do you have a lot of bad thoughts? Probably, and I mean everyone has intrusive thoughts.

Speaker 1:

But can you imagine if people said they're not like really horrible thoughts, but like, not like some of the thoughts that everything that pops into your head is what you said yeah, I know not everything's mean, but it's not like the nicest all right, I have a funny joke.

Speaker 2:

I don't know if you're going to get this, but those of you listening, if you do get this joke, I think it's super funny. All right, ready.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Why are prostitutes so loud in bed?

Speaker 1:

Why.

Speaker 2:

A lot of hormones.

Speaker 1:

Because it's a whore.

Speaker 2:

Because a prostitute is a whore. Hormones.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, hormones in your body.

Speaker 2:

Hormones.

Speaker 1:

Aw yeah, I got it, mom, you're funny.

Speaker 2:
